According to sources from GMDA officials there is a proposal to extend the metro line and connect it with Rapid Metro near DLF Cyber Hub. The proposed Gurugram metro is supposed to connect with Rapid Metro and Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) near Udyog Vihar. The authority is doing surveys and feasibility study for setting stations and connections.
The Gurugram Metro corridor will start from Huda City Center end at Sec-23.On the other hand, RRTS will start in Delhi passing though Udyog Vihar reaching Manesar and Pachgaon.
This is not confirm that which Rapid Metro Station will be connected to new metro line and its is likely to be either Cyber City or Moulsari Avenue as both are near to Udyog Vihar. Feasibility study is being conducted to decide that how many stations will be between Sec-23 and Rapid Metro.Since the distance between them is only 5 kms ,so there won’t be more than 3-4 stations.
There was one plan to extend Rapid Metro to the other side of NH-8 but it never materialised. The new proposed metro route will start from Huda City Center and go to Sec-23,connecting Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Dwarka Expressway(near sectors 101 and 104) and sectors 4, 5, 9, 9 A, 10 A and 10.
The detailed project report was approved by the State Govt. in February this year. Work on this projects has already started by first phase of RRTS beginning from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi and going to Pachgaon through Jor Bagh, Aerocity, Udyog Vihar, Sec-17, Rajiv Chowk, Kherki Dhaula and Manesar.
The plan will not just connect three lines for the convenience of commuters, providing seamless connectivity but it will also the gap in public transport and connecting major hubs in the city .The Gurugram Metro might be extended from Sec-23 connecting it with Rapid Metro and RRTS near the Delhi border or Udyog Vihar on the way.
